Ad specs cheat sheet.

Image and video sizes, ratios and text limits for every platform we run ads on. Last checked 30 September 2026.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

Platforms change their specs without warning. Each figure links to the page it came from. Meta's help pages block automated reading, so Meta figures are from guides that quote Meta and should be confirmed in Ads Manager before a big launch.

Three files cover almost everything

A 1080×1350 (4:5) image or video for feeds, a 1080×1920 (9:16) version for Stories, Reels, TikTok and Shorts, and a 1200×628 (1.91:1) landscape for Google and LinkedIn. Design the 9:16 version inside the safe zones and the other two are crops of it.

Text that fits

Write to the shortest limit first. A headline that works in 27 characters for Facebook Feed also works as a 30-character Google headline and inside TikTok's 100-character ad text. The ad copy checker counts all three as you type.

FAQ

Ad specs cheat sheet: questions answered.

What size should a Facebook ad be?

For Feed, 1080×1080 (1:1) or 1080×1350 (4:5). For Stories and Reels, 1080×1920 (9:16). Upload the 4:5 and 9:16 versions and Meta will use the right one per placement.

What are the TikTok ad specs?

Vertical 9:16 video at 1080×1920 (minimum 540×960), 5 to 60 seconds, up to 500 MB, with ad text up to 100 characters and a display name up to 20.

What are the Google Ads image sizes?

For Performance Max and Display: landscape 1200×628 (1.91:1), square 1200×1200 (1:1) and portrait 960×1200 (4:5), plus a 1200×1200 logo.

What is the Facebook cover photo size?

820×312 pixels on desktop and 640×360 on mobile. Keep logos and text in the centre so neither crop cuts them off.

How often do these specs change?

Several times a year across the platforms. We check every figure against the official help pages each quarter and show the date at the top of the page.

Where do the figures come from?

Each group links to the page it was taken from. Google, TikTok, LinkedIn and Snapchat figures are from their own help centres. Meta blocks automated reading of its help pages, so those figures come from guides that quote Meta and are marked as such.

Can I get this as a template?

The safe zone checker downloads transparent 1080×1920 templates for every vertical placement. For sizes, the table is the template: design at the pixel sizes listed and export at 2x for retina screens.
